Consumer Rights and Information

In accordance with House Bill 4224 (89th Regular Session) and Section 181.105 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, we are required to provide the following information to all consumers:

  • Requesting Your Records: As a client, you have the right to request a copy of your health care records. However, we encourage you to first discuss this request with your therapist. Clinical notes are written for professional use and, in some cases, reading them without context may be confusing or even emotionally distressing. Your therapist can help you understand what’s in your record and ensure that any request supports your overall well-being. To begin this conversation, please reach out to your therapist directly in your client portal or contact our office at light@litdtrauma.com.
  • Contacting the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC): If you need to reach the licensing authority that oversees mental health professionals in Texas, you may contact the Council through their Contact Us page.
  • Filing a Consumer Complaint: Consumers may file a complaint with the Texas Office of the Attorney General through the Consumer Protection Division.
