Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about counseling, scheduling, telehealth, faith-integrated care, and getting started with LITD Trauma Counseling.

Getting Started

How do I start counseling at LITD?

You can start by contacting us through the website, phone, or email. We will help answer your questions and discuss next steps for scheduling a consultation or first appointment.

Do I need to know which provider I want to see?

No. If you are unsure, we can help you determine which provider may be the best fit based on your needs, goals, availability, and preferred session format.

What happens during the first appointment?

Your first appointment focuses on learning about your concerns, history, goals, and what kind of support you are seeking. You do not have to share everything all at once.

Counseling Options

Do you offer in-person counseling?

Yes. LITD Trauma Counseling offers in-person counseling in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. We offer secure online therapy for clients located in Texas. Telehealth can be a good option if you live outside Wichita Falls or prefer virtual sessions.

Do you work with children, teens, adults, and families?

Our providers serve different client groups. Some work with adults, some with children or teens, and some with families. Provider availability and fit can be discussed during the consultation process.

Trauma Counseling

What is trauma-specialized counseling?

Trauma-specialized counseling recognizes how painful or overwhelming experiences can affect the body, mind, relationships, emotions, and sense of safety. Care is paced with respect for your comfort and readiness. All LITD clinicians are highly trained in several trauma processing modalities and understand how to fit them to each individual client.

Do I have to talk about everything that happened?

No. Therapy does not require you to share everything immediately or even at all. Your provider will work with you at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Some therapy strategies require very little talking and are highly effective at treating concerns.

Can counseling help with anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm?

Yes. Counseling can help you understand your responses, build coping tools, develop grounding strategies, and work toward greater emotional stability.

Christian Counseling

Is Christian counseling required?

No. Christian counseling is available when desired, but it is not required. Your beliefs, comfort level, and goals guide the process.

Can faith be included in therapy?

Yes. If you want faith included, your provider can integrate it respectfully to the degree you are comfortable. At LITD, we use well-researched, evidence-based techniques that acknowledge the way God created our bodies and brains to function, while also honoring the role that faith plays in our lives.

What if I have experienced religious trauma?

We specialize in untangling the psychological and emotional issues that come with religious trauma. We aim to provide a respectful space for clients processing faith-related pain, confusion, or harm.

Scheduling and Practical Questions

How long are sessions?

Session length may vary service type. Typically, most sessions are 45-60 minutes in length.
